​Whether it’s driven by people, purpose, fantasy, or pure instinct — we’ll explore the deep pull of place, belonging, and the many versions of “home” we carry with us.

​Meet Your Host: Julia Gibas-Jones

​Julia moved to Portugal in 2022 after spending the previous four years teaching English abroad, in Brazil, and then in France. She studied abroad in Morocco, Botswana, and China, and did internships in Kenya and South Africa. Through the warm welcomes she received all over the world as a solo traveler, she grew a deep appreciation for hospitality, and she’s already hosted around 40 different visitors in her home in Lisbon, including family, friends, and friends of friends. Although she loves having a trip or visit to look forward to, in her day to day she’s more spontaneous. Julia loves puzzles, beaches, nail polish, escape rooms, Brazilian music, wandering, watching sports, dancing, discussing politics, cooking, walkability, and reality TV (she’s even applied to be on a few shows).
