About The Speaker -Gemillyn Rose Lat:
Gem is a multi-skilled communication professional with over 7 years of experience in various fields.
She has a strong background in education, having served as an English Second Language Teacher and Senior High School Teacher. Her diverse skillset also includes pre-production and post-production process such as subtitling, translation, research, copywriting and video editing. She was also once part of a Philippines weather program where she delivered live weather updates.
Gem’s dedication extends beyond professional qualifications. She is a member of the Philippine Mental Health Association, highlighting her commitment to well-being and mental health awareness.
Currently, Gem works as a Communications Officer at the International Seafarers' Welfare & Assistance Network (ISWAN) Philippines. There, she manages social media accounts, crafts compelling digital content, coordinates regional campaigns, and liaises with local government and maritime stakeholders. Her work also involves advocating for seafarers' well-being by coordinating assistance, writing human interest stories and articles, and conducting awareness presentations to various organizations.
