Real World Cryptography Paris Meetup 3
Welcome to the Real World Cryptography Paris (RWC Paris) Meetups! Our goal is to bring together enthusiasts, professionals, and academics to discuss the latest advancements in cryptography. Whether you're an experienced cryptographer, a software engineer, or someone with a keen interest in the field, our meetups offer a platform to learn, share, and network.
Join us for an evening of insightful talks, discussions, and networking. Light refreshments will be provided.

Third Time's The Charm (the first two were great too!)
Building upon the success of our previous events, Meetup 3 aims to provide a better experience in a more suited space with awesome talks that we hope will capture your attention.
We encourage you to contribute by paying an entrance fee (suggested fee: 5€). One hundred percent of this donation will go towards providing you with a better event, helping to pay for catering and the space itself, in addition to the funding provided by our sponsors.
The event will include awesome talks and opportunities to network, with catering provided.
Schedule
19:00 - Announcements
19:15 - Unlocking the Web with Programmable Cryptography
Goblin Oats, Tonk Labs
It's often said that next-generation cryptography, such as ZKPs, will change the design space of decentralized applications, but what does that actually mean? Surely it doesn't just mean zk-L2s? A theme throughout our prior work, such as with Dappicom, Gribi SDK, and now Speakeasy, is to use blockchain technology only for verification and/or consensus on global state and to push the expressiveness of the application with programmable cryptography woven throughout more recognizable client-server architectures.
19:35 - Covercrypt: A Traceable Attribute-Based KEM With PQ/T Hybrid Security
David Pointcheval, Cosmian
We present our implementation of a new Attribute-Based KEM with strong security and high efficiency. The scheme is described as the combination of a traditional NIKE and a post-quantum KEM, to achieve PQ/T hybrid security with encapsulation and decapsulation under the millisecond. Our implementation additionally provides rights management algorithms and a traceability feature.
19:55 - WHIR: Reed–Solomon Proximity Testing with Super-Fast Verification
Giacomo Fenzi, EPFL
I present WHIR (ePrint 2024/1586), a new IOP of proximity and polynomial commitment scheme that offers small query complexity and exceptionally fast verification time. WHIR has a transparent setup, plausible post-quantum security, and state-of-the-art prover time and argument size. Additionally, the WHIR verifier typically runs in a few hundred microseconds, whereas other verifiers in the literature require several milliseconds (if not much more).
20:20 - Proving Banking On Chain
Mohammed, OpenBanking
The open banking standard produces first-party signatures from banks on payment confirmations. This can be used to settle an escrow smart contract or a programmable commercial agreement.
20:35 - Food & Drinks
