• ​​​Talk #1: AI in Action: Marrying InstructLab and Quarkus: we’ll dive into how open-source tools are changing the game for building applications with large language models (LLMs). This session is all about making it easier to integrate and fine-tune LLMs to level up your dev workflow and build AI-driven applications. We will cover a bunch of useful tools and concepts like:

  • ​Using Podman and the Podman AI Lab to spin up containerized environments with Quarkus

  • ​Fine-tuning LLMs to meet specific needs using InstructLab

  • ​Scaling your applications with an enterprise Kubernetes platform and running them in production

  • ​Streamlining the transition from local development to production-ready deployments

• ​​​Talk #2: Open Source AI Memory: In this session, we’ll explore how LLMs benefit from having a reliable memory layer and how open source tools like cognee make that possible. We’ll walk through the core concepts behind AI memory and show how to build production-ready data pipelines that reduce hallucinations and improve context retention. Expect a hands-on demonstration featuring cognee’s approach, where we’ll ingest real data, generate a knowledge graph, and maintain long-lived context to use in answer generation.

​​​More about the Speakers:

• ​​​Marta Blaszczyk (LinkedIn): Marta is an AI/ML enthusiast passionate about open-source. A self-learner, she transitioned into IT three years ago, joined Red Hat two years ago, and has been a Solution Architect for the past 1.5 years. Outside of tech, she teaches traditional Pilates and trains in boxing.

• ​​​Marco Klaassen (LinkedIn): Marco is passionate about designing complex software architectures that empower companies and developers to build scalable, high-performance solutions. He’s inspired by new technologies and open source, making it easier to solve complex problems in simple ways. In his free time, he enjoys flying, and his vacations are usually spent in the mountains skiing or hiking.

• ​Hande Kafkas (LinkedIn): Hande is an AI engineer with a background in data-driven business solutions. She discovered her passion and dove into advanced analytics during her master’s at TUM. After consulting in data and AI and freelancing for startups, she joined cognee—a Berlin-based team building open-source AI memory—as a growth engineer, where she wears multiple hats. Hande is dedicated to supporting developer communities and bridging the gap between data engineering and AI. Beyond work, she enjoys yoga, hiking, and dancing salsa & bachata.
