About Event

Join us for the next meeting of our Development Water Services group, to hear insights from leaders in this sector and to discuss the latest initiatives and challenges faced by those working with developers in the provision of water and wastewater systems. The meeting will be followed by a visit to The Woodlands Water Recycling Centre in nearby Sturry, for a tour of the UK’s first purpose-built wastewater treatment plant that delivers Nutrient Neutrality for a housing developer.

The Woodlands WRC near Canterbury is the UK’s first wastewater treatment plant built for a housing developer specifically to meet Nutrient Neutrality requirements. It serves a development of 456 residential units which is located within the catchment of a large nutrient-sensitive wetland, and is designed to ensure that nitrogen and phosphorus loadings do not exceed those of the original land use. The plant is operated by an Ofwat-regulated NAV water company.
