About Event

Join us to celebrate the culmination of Go Build 2023, a Greentown Go startup-corporate partnerships accelerator program focused on advancing circularity and decarbonization in the built environment, in partnership with Saint-Gobain.

Go Build is a program that aims to decarbonize the buildings sector through innovation. Buildings are responsible for 39 percent of CO2 emissions globally, with a staggering 11 percent of global emissions coming from the construction of buildings and manufacturing of building materials. To change this, we need innovations that reinvent how buildings and their materials are planned, built, sourced, and managed. 

Greentown Labs and Saint-Gobain have supported six innovative startups to accelerate the commercialization of technologies seeking to extend product life cycles, further develop raw materials, revalorize waste, or act as other enabling technologies. Attendees will hear the Go Build 2023 cohort speak about their innovations, their work with Saint-Gobain, and where they are headed next.

Go Build 2023 Cohort

  • Active Surfaces (Salem, MA) develops an ultra-lightweight, flexible solar technology for the built environment.

  • Carbon Upcycling Technologies (Calgary, AB) is a circular-decarbonization solution for hard-to-abate industries–utilizing low-purity industrial CO2 and industrial byproducts to decarbonize cement.

  • Endeavor Composites, Inc. (Knoxville, TN) intercepts landfill-destined post-industrial fibers and sustainably repurposes them into semi-finished goods for the composite industry.

  • Hempitecture (Ketchum, ID) manufactures and distributes biobased building materials, including a low-embodied-carbon insulation.

  • Puro Renewables (Miami Beach, FL) upcycles carbon-negative biowaste for use in reducing the amount of fossil-fuel-based resin and carbon footprint in typical plastic products.

  • ZS2 Technologies (Calgary, AB) creates magnesium-based advanced building products that can store up to one-fifth of their weight in CO2 via a proprietary carbon-capture technology.

Parking is incredibly limited at Greentown Labs and we encourage attendees to consider taking advantage of public transportation. We’re a short 1-mile walk from the Harvard MBTA station down Kirkland and Washington Streets. Union Square in Somerville is also easily accessible via the #86 and #91 MBTA buses. We offer indoor bike parking on-site and the closest Bluebikes stations are at Dane St., Conway Park and Union Square.
