Attachment, Wellbeing, Ideal Parent Figures: An Experiential Workshop with Evan Leed
This event is open to the public. Evan will be presenting remotely.
Attachment is a psychological theory that places human relationships at the center of how we form our personalities and interact with the world. Since our attachment conditioning is originally set in early childhood, it operates on a largely unconscious basis and can be difficult to change.
This experiential workshop will provide some basic education on the psychology of attachment and wellbeing and present two meditations designed to work with our conditioning, leaving plenty of time for questions and discussion.
Part 1:
An introduction to attachment theory, define secure relationships, and delve into the ways in which our conditioning provides us with both positive and afflictive strategies for regulating our emotions
A guided loving-kindness meditation developed by George Haas at Mettagroup designed to give us agency in developing positive mindstates. This sirves as a foundational practice in improving relationships with other and ourselves
Part 2:
Explore insecure attachment styles and how they can be repaired. Discussion of exploration - the process by which we derive a greater sense of wellbeing and purpose in life
A guided Ideal Parent Figure Protocol meditation. The IPF protocol was developed by Dr. Daniel P. Brown and colleagues at Harvard University and uses the imagination as a way of accessing and shifting our unconscious strategies of relating to the world. Studies have shown that even the most complex attachment styles can be repaired in as few as 50 to 150 sessions of one-on-one work with a facilitator.
People from all backgrounds are welcome to attend.
This teaching is offered freely though Evan will happily accept donations and dana.
About Evan Leed
Evan Leed is a meditation teacher originally from New York and currently living in Argentina.
