Responsible AI Reading Group with Albert Ventayol
Join us for our next Responsible AI Reading Group session, where we will dive into the challenges of fairness, accountability, and equity in NLP and large language models (LLMs).
Albert Ventayol will facilitate a discussion based on the paper Systematic Inequalities in Language Technology Performance across the World’s Languages by Damián Blasi, Antonios Anastasopoulos, and Graham Neubig. The paper explores how language technologies disproportionately benefit a small subset of the world’s languages while leaving others significantly underserved, introducing topics of fairness and accountability in the NLP space.
Discussion Topics Include:
The disparities in NLP performance across different languages
The societal and economic factors influencing language technology development
The implications of these disparities for AI fairness and accountability
Strategies for promoting equitable language technologies
This session is open to all—whether you’re deeply familiar with AI fairness or just beginning to engage with responsible AI. Come ready to share your thoughts and perspectives!
