We all know that the future of Bukit Dinding as a hiking area looks very bleak, hence let's explore this venue while we still can.

Let's tackle the Mini Tahan trail once more. The T officially stands for Tahan, but it might as well stand for Torture. This hike is a real rollercoaster with at least a dozen up- and downhill sections. Most of them have ropes in place, still several downhill stretches will require balancing skills. This is Jerantut all over again folks...!

Many times one expect to go further up, crossing Bukit Dinding, only to find out that the trail veers downhill once more. Not only a physical but a mental challenge as well.

Despite the fact that the trail is less than six kilometres in total, expect an average fit hiker to take at least three hours to complete the mission.

Moreover due to the never ending sequence of up- and downhills, many hikers will experience this hike significantly more difficult than any other IBP 48 rated hike.

Signage is impeccable until the junction of the tarred road, MTB trail and Kazumi trail. We then follow the Kazumi trail downhill back to the car in order to finish the hike.

It is a relatively new trail but there are no major obstacles nor undergrowth.

There are sections without any tree canopy coverage. Come protected...!

There are several opportunities to take shortcuts when you consult the topographic map on your device.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps.me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. More info can be found in the Knowledge Base sub Event Information (general) - How to prepare myself for navigation...?

Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Every week, we notice that too many hikers arrive just before the event starts and are absolutely not prepared which is jeopardising the scheduled timing of the event. Especially iPone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.

This is a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file at the trailhead and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers. For those who are not familiar with gps navigation, you will be guided but still have to use your own navigation app on your phone.

By 02:00 pm all hikers should have reached the car park again.

Do note that the indicated meet-up time is not the time you should arrive at the meet-up location. It is the time that the hike effectively starts. The QR code for the gpx file can be scanned at the trailhead from 08:15 am onwards. You can start your hike at any time between 08:15 am and 09:00 am.

All details can be found in the Knowledge Base; use this link.
