Emotional Self-Defense class with Jim Kleiber (Fundraiser)
Jim, you need to slow down, this is advanced ninja sh*t.
—First ESD student
Life comes at us fast and most of the time we don't know how to respond.
Emotional Self-Defense is a place for us to practice how to respond to these emotional attacks with love.
While there can be many types of emotional attacks—guilt tripping, being ignored, betrayed, complimented, etc—this class will be about practicing responding to rejection.
I've run this class across many cultures and continents with participants using the techniques in many languages—and it has worked work powerfully and quickly.
(From top left, clockwise: Germany, Romania, Macedonia, Germany, Kenya)
Jim, your workshop, it f*cked my feelings, but they needed it. Thank you.

Meeting Platform
We will be using Gather.town for the class, as it is the best software that I’ve found to replicate the group facilitation environment. It is like a mix of a video conferencing software (like Zoom or Skype) with a 2D video game (like Zelda). It seems to work better on a desktop computer than it does a mobile device. Go here (https://gather.town/demo?type=walkthrough) for a demo to see if it works on your device (if on a computer, try using Chrome) and to practice using the software before the class.
Pricing for the fundraiser version
For this fundraiser version, I'm running this class where it's pay-what-you-want: a suggested price of $50, with a minimum price of $20, and then people contribute what they want to contribute.
However, normally I want to run this class where it's pay-if-you-want: free to anyone who wants to take it, thus a minimum price of $0 and a suggested price of $50 if people aren't sure what to donate.
WARNING: The class, in dealing with emotional attacks, may be emotionally intense. However, I say that to just let you know that you or others may cry or stretch your emotional limits—in each activity, especially the rejection scenario, I give you different ways to do the exercises at your own pace. The goal is not to push you too far, but to help you reach the limits that you want to reach and to remember that we're all at different places with different things.
FAQ
What if I show up late?
I want to start the class exactly on time, as I want to respect all of your time and presence. I will open the room 15 minutes early and I strongly suggest you arrive then, to make sure there are no technical challenges with joining the room and your camera and audio.
May I join if I've already taken a class with you before?
Sure! I've done these exercises many times and I'm still learning more each time, so I would love if you join
I have a question for which I don't see an answer, what should I do?
Please send me a message and I'll be glad to answer it for you and possibly add it to the FAQ as well.
