​Session Overview: Geopolitical tensions increasingly challenge our perception of Europe’s energy sovereignty. In this Ripple, we want to discuss the implications for EnergyTech, reaching from the acceleration of technological development (e.g., in demand-side flexibility, electrification, nuclear, redundancy) to the rise of new technologies to protect energy infrastructure physically and in the digital domain, and how defense considerations have become a boundary condition for resource allocation.

• ​What core technical infrastructure pieces will profit from higher redundancy?

• ​What is the tradeoff between protectability and LCOE? Will people be willing to pay higher prices for higher security?

• ​Are there other international and/or political dependencies that Europe is blind to?
