On Saturday April 12th, Art-full members are invited to join us for a thoughtfully curated experience that brings together meaningful conversation, artistic exploration, and community connection.
We’ll begin with afternoon tea at the stunning gallery at Café Carlyle, savouring refined flavors while engaging in inspiring discussions. It is famous for its timeless elegance, live jazz performances, and artistic charm. Adorned with hand-painted murals by Marcel Vertès, it offers an intimate setting where guests enjoy refined cuisine, afternoon tea, and legendary cabaret shows. A favorite among celebrities and art lovers, it embodies the essence of Old New York glamour.
Then, we’ll head to The Met for a guided tour of Monstrous Beauty: A Feminist Revision of Chinoiserie—a ground-breaking exhibition that reclaims the narrative of chinoiserie, exposing its deep-rooted connections to women’s identity, race, and colonial imagination.
Through nearly 200 works spanning from 16th-century Europe to contemporary pieces by Asian and Asian American women artists, this exhibition reframes porcelain as a symbol of resilience, power, and artistic defiance.
And we’ll have the pleasure of being guided by Art Historian, Helen Lee, whose insights will surely bring the exhibit to life.
All tickets include museum admission + the private, guided tour. Full experience tickets also include the prix-fixe afternoon tea menu at the Carlyle - with a selection of tea, tea sandwiches, scones and pastries.
It will be a memorable afternoon exploring the power of art to challenge norms, history to inspire change, and community to amplify voices.
