Join us for an all-night, open-door hackathon with free food, drinks, music, and good people coming together to map the U.S. climate movement. Before a week of panels and happy hours, roll up your sleeves and help build a tool that will have a lasting impact.

Co-hosted by the country’s leading youth climate organizations– Fridays for Future USA, Sunrise DC, Campus Climate Network, Zero Hour, Youth Climate Collaborative, Youth vs Fossil Fuels, and more– this hackathon will bring together activists, organizers, and tech nerds (and anyone else!) to collectively create a resource to connect groups like never before: The Movement Map.

2025 brought with it a radically different landscape for climate advocacy. We need to brainstorm how to make a stronger, more united, and more intersectional movement, capable of rising to this moment. The U.S. climate movement is made up of hundreds of organizations– from the grassroots and neighborhood level to the institutional and national– who are fighting for many of the same goals. How do new activists decide who to join? And how can we help organizers save time and reach new groups when creating coalitions and collaborating on campaigns?

The Movement Map will be a dynamic tool designed for anyone to explore, add, and search for groups to connect and build with. Using our open source and vetted entries, experienced organizers will be able to filter by dozens of criteria to compile a dataset of organizations and chapters curated for their current campaign. 

Hear from the brilliant minds of Matt Scott, Jonathan Gilmour, and Kat Maier, that are building infrastructure to respond to our current moment about how tech can be used for real-world connections and change, what your story has to do with your problem-solving superpowers, and how you can plug in.

The night will begin with an honest, radical, and interactive discussion led by seasoned organizers about how to enhance coordination and collaboration between climate justice activists and other progressive movements to create a unified, progressive front capable of meeting the unprecedented challenges we face. We will then co-work together to build out and hard launch the Movement Map— documenting key organizations, chapters, and networks through the Map’s open source submission form while enjoying food and drinks, playing pool, listening to music, and making new friends.
