NGS IEG: The Callisto™ System Enables Broad-based Access to Push-button NGS Sample Prep
We are ringing in the New Year 🎉 with a talk from Dr. Fred Souret from Volta Labs on January 23rd! Dr. Souret will present on their cutting-edge digital fluidics platform, The CallistoTM System. Please see the following information below:
Title: The Callisto™ System Enables Broad-based Access to Push-button NGS Sample Prep
Abstract: Volta Labs is reimagining sample preparation with a platform that uses advanced digital fluidics technology. This innovative system enables precise and programmable control, magnetic manipulation, contact-free mixing, and precise temperature control for liquids and paramagnetic beads used in NGS sample preparation. The Callisto™ Sample Prep Platform is a walk-away sample prep automation system that features preloaded apps compatible with multiple NGS workflows and supports batch processing of up to 24 reactions per run with less than 30 minutes of user set-up and hands-on time. The system eliminates the need for highly trained technicians, offering a scalable and flexible solution that minimizes the risks associated with manual sample handling. Callisto™ also provides a wide range of validated apps for DNA sample extraction, NGS library preparation for both long- and short-read sequencing, and hybridization capture enrichment. These features are designed to address the challenges of method development and optimization, making NGS sample preparation more efficient and reliable.
Speaker bio: With over 15 years of experience in the Life Science and Clinical Diagnostics sectors, Fred Souret is a seasoned Technical Sales Leader specializing in NGS, single cell, spatial genomics, and genomics technologies. He holds a Ph.D. in Biology and Biotechnology from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and began his career in Product Development at Affymetrix before transitioning to commercial roles. Currently at Volta Lab in Boston, he has also held sales and support positions at leading companies, including 10x Genomics, Singular Genomics, Personalis, and Bio-Rad.

The NextGen Sequencing Intellectual Exchange Group (NGS IEG) provides a forum to share methods and technologies driving biotechnology research in North Carolina from both academic and private research groups. NGS IEG provides an excellent networking opportunity for biotech leaders, academics, and students interested in networking with local RTP biotech. We gather industry leaders from the RTP area to share, discuss and review their new technologies, research, and big-data platforms in a casual environment with lunch provided.
