Beyond Binaries – The Almost Hidden Acceleration of Quantum Computing
Quantum Computing
By selecting a tool, we define what we can create. Our sense of possibility is shaped along the way. Here we are, relying on computers almost all day, which, despite their different shapes and sizes, are all fundamentally rooted in binary logic.
Meanwhile, we recognise that reducing complexities to binaries, dichotomies, or opposing poles no longer helps us address the interdependent challenges we face as humanity on our planet Earth. We are embedded in an organic system in constant flux, where nothing is ever just one or zero but always in motion.
Amid the hype around machine learning, the history of human inventiveness suggests that the machines we widely use today are far from the pinnacle.
We invite you to an evening on quantum computing and humanity. The Creative Leadership Salon is delighted to welcome Markus Pflitsch, CEO of Terra Quantum, an international quantum technology company, headquartered in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
About our Salonier
With a background in physics and mathematics, Markus began his journey as a researcher at CERN, later transitioning into the financial industry where he held leadership positions at several banks, before co-founding Terra Quantum AG. The company is equally dedicated to the manifold dimensions of quantum computing: scientific advancement, practical applications, business models, and philosophy.

Creative Leadership Salon
Since 2017, the Creative Leadership Salon has hosted conversations on shaping society and entrepreneurship. We have discussed topics ranging from technology, social entrepreneurship, education, and science to non-profit work. For us, the appeal of creativity lies in discovering possibilities beyond apparent contradictions: a company, for example, can certainly be both activist and commercially viable. And we believe they should aim to. Binary logic reaches its limits when confronted with the questions of our time.
The Creative Leadership Salon thrives on conversation—there are no screens or stages, just a special guest who shares their story as a conversation starter. From there, we follow the flow of the evening, with gentle facilitation on our part.
