ABOUT THE ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNALISM CREATORS PROGRAM

The EJCP is a virtual 100-day program for creators from all around the world who want to build independent niche journalism projects. Join the program to develop your idea for a newsletter, podcast or niche site. We'll help you strengthen your skills, knowledge and network as you explore creative approaches for generating revenue.

The short application will be open through February 2. The 100-day program will run from mid-March through mid-June.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Jeremy Caplan is the Director of the Entrepreneurial Journalism Creators Program and Director of Teaching and Learning at the Newmark J-School. A former reporter at Time Magazine, he now writes the Wonder Tools newsletter and contributes to Fast Company.

Flavian DeLima is the editor, and publisher of Spinning Forward, a newsletter covering content creators of color in the Greater Toronto Area and how they succeed in the online economy. He graduated from the Canadian Google News Initiative Startups Boot Camp and the American Express Canada Blueprint mentorship program for BIPOC-owned businesses in 2022. He is the recipient of the New Business of the Year Award from LION Publishers.

Tim Donnelly is a co-founder of The New York Groove, an independent local news site reporting on New York City. He is an NYC journalist and lifetime local news true believer. He served as editor of the website Brokelyn and was a staff writer at the New York Post and The Island Packet in Hilton Head, S.C. His writing has appeared in Curbed, the Village Voice, Eater, Death + Taxes, Inc., The Outline, the Atlantic, and Elsewhere. He’s now co-founder of The New York Groove, a service journalism outlet demystifying city life and helping everyone be the best New Yorker they can be. He’s also a nationally recognized competitive punner, and co-host of the wordplay variety show Vocabaret.

Ankur Paliwal is the founder and managing editor of queerbeat, an independent collaborative journalism project focused on LGBTQIA+ persons in India. He is a queer independent journalist. Over the last twelve years, he has mostly written narrative stories about science, inequity, and the LGBTQIA+ community. He has reported from India, Ethiopia, Ghana, Tanzania, Kenya, Germany and the United States for several Indian and international publications. He has a master’s degree in Science Journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York.

Timi Siytangco has 20+ years of creative and commercial experience in digital media in APAC. She has a track record of building and growing media brands large and small in the region, including Outbrain, CNET, Splice Media, VidCon Asia and Acast, where she is currently first boots on the ground in Asia responsible for revenue and growth. She has worked in digital marketing, product management and media sales, specialised in creating and growing revenue-generating products that creates value for the reader, media owner, and advertiser alike. Timi is also a bookworm, podcast addict, the producer of newsletter and podcast Foolish Careers, and a once and future travel writer. She is an alumni of the Newmark J-School Entrepreneurial Journalism Program and is based in Singapore.
