UX isn’t just for screens.
In this outdoor Design Jam, we’re stepping away from our desks and into our City’s parks to reconnect with each other and the bigger picture of design. By bringing our process into the physical world, we’ll explore how observation, creativity, and systems thinking come together to inform meaningful solutions—especially for more complex challenges that we may tackle.
Join us and Vivian Lai-Bui, UX Architect at the City of Calgary, as we venture outdoors for a hands-on, collaborative session grounded in design thinking to sharpen core UX skills like empathy, problem framing, and storytelling.
Together, we’ll practice:
✔️ Observational research
✔️ Identifying user personas
✔️ Mapping journeys
✔️ Defining “How Might We” statements
✔️ Prototyping with analog materials (stickies, stationery)
✔️ Storytelling and sharing design ideas
This 3-hour session offers a refreshing break from screen time, helping designers of all experience levels build skills for tackling complex, multi-touchpoint challenges—especially those grounded in physical environments.
