Financing the Future: Conversations on Blended Finance
Join Spring, Thrive Impact Fund, and Partnership Investment Program of the Ontario Trillium Foundation for a conversation with Ilse Treurnicht and Jed Emerson.
Following on our Blended Finance Convening earlier this year, we’re continuing our collective sharing and learning with this insightful conversation between two industry leaders. This session will be informative to those already engaged in blended finance initiatives, and those wanting to learn more about this solution for mobilizing capital.
About Ilse:
Ilse Treurnicht’s career spans science, startups, innovation ecosystems, venture capital and public policy. She is an impact investor (TwinRiver Capital and North South Ventures), chair of the Public Policy Forum and a director of the Equality Fund and Zentek. Ilse served as CEO of MaRS Discovery District, and is an advisor to technology firms, governments, non-profits and international organizations.
About Jed:
Jed Emerson is Managing Director, Chief Impact Officer with AlTi Tiedemann Global, an international, multi-family office. He has worked in the arena of purpose driven capital for over 30 years. Emerson is a Senior Fellow with the Blended Finance Initiative at the University of Zurich, is Senior Research Fellow at University of Heidelberg’s Center on Social Investing in Germany and has held faculty appointments at Harvard, Stanford and Oxford business schools.
In the late 90s, Emerson coined the concept of Blended Value to describe the reality that the value we create in our lives and through our investing is a blend of social, environmental and economic elements. Emerson is founding director of REDF, a leading investor in U.S.-based social enterprises and Larkin Street Services, a leading multi-service center for homeless youth.
