About Event

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well. For the last couple of years, I've been living in San Francisco working on my Master's degree in Energy Systems Management. During this time, I had the opportunity to help organize SF Climate Week 2024 and see firsthand how impactful an event like this can be for a city.

I'm returning to Toronto soon and want to gauge interest in creating our own "Toronto Climate Week" starting in 2026. After seeing how these events operate in cities like San Francisco and New York, I believe Toronto is perfectly positioned to host its own climate-focused week of activities and events.

Why Toronto Needs Its Own Climate Week

  • Global Networking: It brings together people from around the world to focus on a singular topic, creating valuable connections between local innovators and global experts.

  • Economic Benefits: Events like Climate Week NYC and London Climate Action Week attract thousands of attendees, benefiting local businesses and raising the city's profile.

  • Accelerating Local Solutions: SF Climate Week uses a decentralized model where community members organize diverse, multidisciplinary events format that works and could thrive in Toronto.

  • Showcasing Toronto Innovation: We have incredible sustainability initiatives, cleantech startups, and research happening right here that deserve more visibility.

  • Community Building: Creates a platform for Torontonians from different sectors to collaborate on addressing climate challenges specific to our region.

What This Might Look Like

Based on successful models in other cities, Toronto Climate Week could include:

  • Panel discussions and workshops

  • Networking events for professionals

  • Community engagement activities

  • Showcases of local climate solutions

  • Partnerships with local businesses, universities, and government

Looking for Collaborators

I'm looking to form a core group of motivated individuals interested in making this event happen. Whether you have experience in event planning, sustainability, communications, community organizing, or just a passion for climate action, I'd love to connect.

If you're interested in being part of this initiative or have suggestions, please comment below or send me a DM. I'm planning to organize an initial virtual meeting in May to discuss possibilities and start building a roadmap.
