An Alphabet of Social Action: Exploring the Immaterial Forces That Move Us
What drives us? What sustains us in times of change and challenge? Often, the most meaningful forces are intangible—resilience, relationships, and the connections we nurture.
This workshop invites you to explore these unseen yet powerful elements of social action. Through shared stories and reflections, we'll uncover the words and ideas that define what motivates and sustains us today.
What to Expect:
Peer-to-Peer Story Collection: Participate in peer to peer story collection about origins, influences and what matters to you now?
Meta Reflection: What word or concept captures what moves you? What sustains your purpose today - what do see or hear from others?
Developing an A-Z of Social Action together: We’ll share examples and expand our lexicon about how we talk about, work and sustain ourselves in the field of social action
We’ll gather words that bring to life how we talk about what motivates and sustains our social action work…contributing to a collective A-Z
Join us as we co-create a living alphabet of intangible forces— an evolving vocabulary for meaningful action in an ever-changing world.
The workshop is hosted by Annie Davy and Makena Lohr who met as co-founders of Flo’s the Place, a community enterprise hub that gave new life to a decommissioned children’s centre in East Oxford.
They have both worked separately supporting the development of several charities/community groups and they are currently working together for Oxfordshire County Council on community wealth building ‘hearing from experts on the ground’. Annie has a long career in education, public service and community action and Makena is currently undertaking a Churchill fellowship project on community hubs.
Capacity: 20 maximum.
