What is Futurework?
Futurework is looking to do one thing; find out what "work in the future" looks like by doing it NOW.
As the world of AI progresses with an intense focus on raw power and capabilities, many people find themselves standing directly in its path as it bulldozes soon to be former jobs and careers. From this, we see an emergence of builders that are shaping what the Future of Work will look like by making unapologetic bets and builds on a new field. They are collectively becoming the "Man/Woman in the Arena".

Futurework Toronto is a mission to gather and connect people defining the next generation of work.
We have to admit we are hazarding a calculated guess that AI will be at the core of our future productivity, going so far as to dub it the "Future of Work". We could find out looking back, that this wasn't the case and it's funny we ever thought it would be. But for now, the signs are there and the needles are pointing in a clear direction. We might not know exactly what work in the future will look like. Futurework matters because the career landscape is changing drastically. We have the power to shape it by discovering it early, and deliberately moulding it into an ideal form that everyone can welcome.

Why are we starting this?
A Convergence of Builders
While Toronto is a hub of AI Technology, many spending Friday nights creating and staying up way too late to finish fine-tuning a prototype, each of us are spread out over the GTA and don’t often get to converge. History reminds us that when devoted minds gather, they make each other more ambitious, pool resources, and inspire something bigger than the sum of their parts.
Our favourite events have been hosted by practitioners in their field - hackathons run by hackers, demos run by creatives, and workshops run by artists. Futurework is born from this insight.
No more Generic Events
The right environment births unlimited potential. Yet, we’re hopping from the city’s one of many demos and networking sessions to another, most of the time coming out with little to no enduring value.
Communities, like products, should focus on craft, not mass-production.
This is why we are designing Futurework to be a community space that focuses and supports what builders do more than 90% of the time. Explore, Learn, Play and Build.
