International Generalist Day 2025 🌍

Imagine you could meet new friends who understood your squiggly background? Well, now you can!

Join Sarah Sheikh in Toronto for International Generalist Day - a global celebration happening simultaneously across cities worldwide on September 3rd, 2025.

This year we have events across 30+ countries and 80+ locations!

Sarah is hosting good coffee, light bites, and real talk about what it means to wear many hats in the fast-paced world of startups at the Loop office. Expect energizing conversations, practical insights, and a community of fellow builders who know that in startups, versatility isn't just nice to have — it's essential. Perfect for swapping stories of scrappy problem-solving and diving into how generalists thrive when every day brings a new challenge!

What is a generalist? Professionals who apply their skills across multiple domains, connect disparate ideas, or serve as "translators" between different teams and disciplines. If you've ever felt your career doesn't fit in a single box, this celebration is for you.

What to expect:

  • Connect with fellow generalists in your city

  • Be part of a global movement happening the same day worldwide

  • Real talk about wearing many hats in fast-paced environments

  • Share stories of scrappy problem-solving and multi-skilled wins

  • Accessibility: Fully accessible office space

  • What's included: Coffee and light bites provided

  • Format: Skills sharing/workshop style focused on startup generalist experiences

Your host Sarah Sheikh is an operational leader with over 15 years of experience in fintech, banking, and higher education across Canada, the USA, and the UK, working across teams to drive growth, streamline operations, and scale businesses. Her favorite part about being a generalist? "Being a generalist gives me the range to step into different challenges as they arise. I enjoy translating across teams, aligning priorities, and keeping the whole machine running (without too many sparks flying!)"

As Sarah shares: "I'm looking forward to connecting with other generalists and sharing how we pace velocity in a startup while still keeping things sustainable — and maybe lifting the curtain a bit on what cross-functional work actually looks like on the ground."

Special thanks to Loop for supporting the Toronto IGD event!
