The Panel:

Phil Gomes, CCO/CMO, Bloq, Inc.

Phil Gomes’ career in the communications field is characterized by his passionate interest in technology, media, and emerging forms of communication. His approach uniquely blends the philosophies of open-source and hacker culture with best-practices in corporate communication.

Phil leads communications and marketing at Bloq, a leader in blockchain infrastructure and applications. This includes responsibility for the corporate brand and Bloq's myriad spinoffs: Vesper, Titan, Atmos, Capsule, Metronome, Lumerin, and others.

Prior to joining Bloq in 2018, Phil was a senior vice president at Edelman and, ultimately, the leader of its global blockchain center-of-excellence. During his thirteen-year tenure, he guided the world's largest communications firm's initial explorations across two generational technology shifts: social media and blockchain technology. Phil also developed a world-class employee development program, built a well-regarded certification system, managed numerous online crises, wrote global online behavior policies, tried his damnedest to fix the PR trade's relationship with Wikipedia, and focused on anticipating the unexpected in a trade that values predictability more than it would like to admit.

In his near-decade in Silicon Valley prior to Edelman, Phil worked with startups and enterprise companies alike. His work helped guide clients to win the Technology Pioneers Programme Award at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Twice.

Known for industry “firsts,” Phil is widely considered to be the first PR professional to start a blog (2001) and the first to describe and demonstrate the value of blockchain technology in communications (2015).

Sarah Ikalowych, KCD PR

Sarah is a well-rounded professional with an expansive background in sales, education, networking, and cultivating exceptional experiences for clients. In her role as a Senior Associate at KCD PR, she builds meaningful relationships with clients, produces written content for blogs, social media, and contributed pieces for both the company and clients, and creates lasting connections between clients and media members. She is a people person at her core, and values her ability to bring people together in meaningful ways as one of her best professional qualities.

Prior to joining KCD PR, Sarah managed large-scale events and outside sales for a restaurant management group and assisted in training and developing new staff at all levels, which is where her love of constructing the very best client experiences came from.

Sarah received her B.A. in English and Comparative Literature from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Master of Arts in Teaching English and Language Arts at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Saad Qureshi, Director, YAP Global

Saad is a Director at YAP Global, overseeing the successful delivery of client communications programmes and providing strategic counsel that creates tangible business outcomes for his clients.

Before joining YAP Global, Saad spent most of his career at award-winning PR agency, Brands2Life, where he helped to run the PR strategy for a wide range of technology companies including B2B campaigns for Vodafone and B2C campaigns for Dell Technologies.

Saad has been fascinated by cryptocurrencies and blockchains since he first discovered the space in 2016 and has been hooked by the way blockchain technology is changing how value of all kinds can be moved in the digital realm.

What excites Saad most about the space is the way cutting-edge concepts like Zero Knowledge proofs will help blockchains scale and change the way we think about privacy on the internet.
