Talk 1: Surely you must be joking, Jupyter notebooks with Ruby! by Landon Gray
Description: Discover the unexpected combination of Jupyter notebooks and Ruby as we explore Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). In this demonstration, Landon will show you how to leverage Ruby within the Jupyter environment to help build and ideate your AI projects.
Bio: Landon has been working to educate the Ruby community on AI integration. In 2023, he demonstrated the fundamentals of training ML models at RailsConf while working at Test Double. He then launched an AI and software boutique called Identus Consulting. In 2024, he partnered with Max Irwin of MAX.IO to launch rubyaitraining.com, the first comprehensive Ruby and AI training program on the market. The program has successfully helped developers learn AI fundamentals including AI search, RAG, agents, vectors, named entity recognition, fine-tuning, and more. Landon currently works as an AI Engineer in the automotive industry, improving an LLM-backed chatbot, and shares his knowledge of life and AI through his newsletter, Curious Centroid.

Talk 2: From Stalled to Supercharged by Anthony Eden from DNSimple
Description: 3 years ago we were stalled with our development of new features at DNSimple. Projects were shipped late or not at all and were often missing key elements that customers expected. We decided to try Shape Up to see if it could help us address some of our issues and, spoiler alert: it did. In this talk I will talk about how Shape Up works, how we adopted it, and how we've changed it in certain ways to fit our needs.
Bio: Anthony Eden is a seasoned software developer with30 years of development experience, and is the founder and CEO of DNSimple, a domain registrar and DNS provider used by individuals and businesses around the world. Anthony has appeared on numerous podcasts where he has spoken about software development, entrepreneurship, and the challenges of building and growing a fully-remote technology business. Anthony currently spends his time between the US and France, collaborating with team members from Asia, to Europe, and North, Central, and South America.
