Conscious AI Meetup: AI and Existential Hope

​We would like to welcome you to another salon of the California Institute for Machine Consciousness.

​Past technological revolutions have led to human progress and increased well-being, but also to disruption, fear and existential dread. The AI revolution moves with a speed and potential for change that seems unprecedented. Will AI obliterate human agency? Tear down the economic, ecological, social and cultural foundations of our societies? Will it wipe out life on Earth to replace it with a dead machine world?

​Or is AI a technology that will allow us to use better information, and make us smarter, more conscious, more wise? Could AI help us integrate deeply with each other, resolve humanity's existential challenges and expand human experience and joy beyond the current reach of our imagination? In which ways can the AI revolution go right? What AI do we want to build for our children? How can we improve the potential for good outcomes?

Lou de K and Joscha Bach will lead a discussion on our existential hopes for AI.
