*The workshop is an activity that is part of a week-long program featuring over 100 events taking place across the city from May 2 to May 11, 2025. This program commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the liberation of Europe from National Socialism.
Comic Workshop Details:
We’ll be inspired by objects in the permanent exhibition. Why did people take these items with them? What stories do they tell us about the displacement, expulsion, reconciliation experienced by around 14 million Germans 80 years ago? After an introductory tour, we will create comics to bring memories and the stories behind these objects to life.
Language: The workshop will be conducted in both German and English.
Date: May 4, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The Workshop is for free.
About the Documentation Centre:
The Documentation Centre for Displacement, Expulsion, and Reconciliation, opened in June 2021, serves as a significant place for learning about displacement, and forced migration in 20th-century Europe and beyond. It features a permanent exhibition, special exhibitions, educational programs, and a library with an archive of eyewitness accounts.
If you would like to explore more and get more context, you can visit the Permanent Exhibition: Topographie des Terrors at your own pace, either before or after the workshop. The permanent exhibition space covers 800 square meters and explains the development and functioning of the security apparatus in the Nazi regime.
Important Note:
When registering, please indicate if you wish to join the lunch, the comic workshop, or both.
All activities are within walking distance, making it easy to engage in this significant day together.
