Day Trip - Calella de Palafrugell and Llafranc
It originated as a fishing village due to its proximity to the sea and its excellent waters. Over time, the villagers had to defend against attacks by pirates and corsairs. To prevent these, several watchtowers were built, some of which, though heavily renovated, still form part of houses and farmhouses in the area.
Today, the village retains the atmosphere typical of the region before the arrival of mass tourism, with narrow streets, houses with sloped tile roofs, and some traditional two-story fishermen's houses.
It is situated on a rocky coast with small coves known for their crystal-clear waters.
Notable is the Camino de Ronda, a roughly 1 km path that connects Calella de Palafrugell with Llafranc, offering spectacular views and accessible to everyone.
In Calella de Palafrugell, you will also find the Cap Roig Botanical Garden, created in 1927 by the Woevodsky couple. It is a place of great beauty where botany, history, landscape, and art come together. The largest annual musical event on the Costa Brava, the Cap Roig Festival, is held here. The garden is a 30-35 minute walk from the town center.
Just a few minutes from Calella de Palafrugell lies Llafranc, one of its hamlets, famous in Roman times for its wine and pottery production. Today, it retains the charm of the coastal villages of the Costa Brava, which is increasingly rare to find.
9:00 AM: Departure from Plaza España, next to the Venetian Towers.
10:30-10:45 AM: Arrival in Calella de Palafrugell.
Upon arrival, we will take a 30-minute tour, passing through the Camino de Ronda and visiting the main beaches of Calella de Palafrugell. This tour is optional but ideal for getting to know the village and its history a little better.
6:00 PM: Return to Barcelona.
8:00 PM: Arrival in Barcelona.
