The Divine Question: What role should religion play today?
A Roundtable on the Role of Religion
An experiment from The Toronto Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge and Studio 535
"What role should religion play today?"
For almost 150 years people have been announcing the 'death of religion'.
They argue that religion is bound to collapse in the face of modern scientific knowledge. Or, they say, that even if religion sticks around as some vestigial organ, it has "served it's purpose". For the intellectually enlightened it just doesn't make sense any more.
What do you think? Is there a role for religion today?
Come to 535 to discuss the future of religion. The evening will start with a conversation between Anna Lisa, salehdigital, Benjamin Parry, Samara and Misha Glouberman to explain their different experiences and their takes on the question.
We will use this frame to transition into a broader discussion, pairing off into smaller groups for prompted dialogue.
There will be snacks.
