About Event

Over recent years, the "Donor Organizer" job has picked up major steam in progressive organizations. Exact responsibilities vary, but generally, it's a role within an organization's development team that operates as both development and organizing.

Donor organizing is not new, as it's rooted in our movement histories. But, this role being structured in 21st-century movement organizations is relatively new. This community of practice supports us as we navigate the opportunities and challenges of being Donor Organizing Staff.

This session, we'll be joined by Liza Behrendt of Resource Organizing Project and Paul Mersfelder of For the Many. Each of them will share:

  • An overview of their organization's sustaining donor program

  • How their sustaining donor program is connected to their broader donor organizing strategy

  • The planning and resources it took to launch their sustaining donor program

If you currently (or plan to) spend a large portion of their staff role in organizing and supporting fundraising volunteers, we’d love for you to join us!
