About Jon Kell:
Jon has spent 19 years in marketing, living and breathing the squiggly career. Graduating with a law degree, and a newfound hatred for the law, he joined the music industry, learning how to make musicians famous at EMI Records. When he realised that the industry was entering a period of decline, he jumped ship (was pushed), starting a 10 year journey through a number of agencies working across a variety of projects including digital and mobile, brand strategy, creative, experiential, partnerships and more for brands including Coca-Cola, Stella Artois, Bose, Foot Locker and The NBA.
A phone call out of the blue one day then resulted in him joining the world of startups. Initially working for a group of new brands in a baptism of fire, he then moved on to join the founders of a pre-launch company called Yoto who were building an audio platform for kids.
This was 2019. They launched Yoto in 2020, days before lockdown. Despite this they managed to sustainably grow the company, hitting £51m in revenue and profitability in 2023, and winning countless awards along the way including TIME Magazine Best Inventions, Fast Company Most Innovative Companies, Deloitte Fast 50, Sifted 100 and Bloomberg Startups to Watch.
