BioML Seminar 7: Arcadia Science on accelerating biological discovery
[IN PERSON EVENT IN BERKELEY]
We're hosting Dave Matus and Keith Cheveralls, from Arcadia Science. Dave and Keith will discuss Arcadia’s recently released nematode embryogenesis classifier and walk attendees through their central biological research question, the time-course imaging data, the intricacies of the classifier, and the greatest challenges they encountered in the project. This will be an interactive session where feedback and discussion are highly encouraged.
Dave Matus is a scientist at Arcadia focusing on building label-free imaging tools for live imaging approaches across the tree of life. Before joining Arcadia, he was a tenured associate professor at Stony Brook University. He used C. elegans and other nematodes as models to understand the relationship between the cell cycle and cell invasive behavior. He also spent time building genetic tools for the nematode research community.
Keith Cheveralls is a software engineer at Arcadia. Previously, he was a senior software engineer at the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub in San Francisco, where he built tools to visualize and analyze large biological datasets.
