About Event

Minority Rights Group and Land Body Ecologies will host a round table discussion exploring how disability, minority and indigenous communities who are impacted by intersecting forms of discrimination can be involved in, and lead on, health and social research. We will focus on black minorities and people of African descent in particular.

Speakers with lived experience will explore themes of underrepresentation in research, key issues and barriers to their representation and involvement in research, and neglected areas within health and social research. The event will also provide an opportunity to share good practices around ethics, community-led, and sustainable research. We will cover a broad range of research types, from research in academia, arts-based research, community-led research, NGO research and research for advocacy and collaboration across these boundaries.

We will discuss how we can better support research for social change within historically marginalised communities by taking an intersectional approach.
