About Event

[Open to NUS Enterprise Startups only]

Building a startup means moving fast. But moving fast doesn’t have to mean cutting corners—especially when it comes to understanding your users or developing and scaling your product.

This 1-hour masterclass, led by Tara Hirebet (ex-Google Silicon Valley, ex-SVP of Research @GOJEK and 2 x TEDx and SXSW speaker), unpacks the art of scrappy (but not at all crappy) research, that you can implement even if you don’t have a dedicated UX researcher or team.

We’ll show you how to nail product and user research that’s quick, actionable, and, dare I say it, even a little fun 🥳!

Think of it as the "Freakonomics of research"—breaking down the complex into memorable, relatable methods you can easily apply wherever you are in your product journey.

We’ll explore:

  • What dating apps and breakups can teach you about your consumer metrics.

  • How language learners and Asian aunties hold the key to exceptional customer onboarding and service.

  • How pro athletes and empty Swedish prisons unlock the secrets to winning—on your platform (and team).

Because in the startup world, speed matters. But quality still wins.

Our Speaker:
Tara Hirebet is a seasoned Senior Executive with over 15 years of global expertise in strategy, consumer intelligence, R&D, and product development, spanning top tech firms (Google, Spotify), unicorn startups (GOJEK, Swiggy, Rappi), Fortune 500s (Nike, VISA, Diageo), and renowned agencies and consultancies. She has led multinational teams to address complex challenges, from combating rideshare fraud to launching and scaling products in mass markets like Southeast Asia and Latin America. A recognized thought leader, Tara has spoken at global events such as TEDx Singapore and SXSW and has been featured in leading publications including The Economist Intelligence Unit and The Business Times. A true global citizen, Tara is currently engaged in fractional advisory roles in female health, neurodiversity, and Gen Z research, alongside developing an Asia-America animation project with an ex-Pixar animator.
