The Design Pillars of Sustainable Game Economies
Join us as we tackle the most difficult aspect of game creation: creating sustainable, balanced economies.
Continuing our vision of a world of healthy and long-lasting game economies and building upon the recent publication of our Manifesto for Building Sustainable Game Economies, we will be joined for this session by Pr. Edward Castronova, - known for his research on virtual worlds - who reminds us that virtual economies tend to behave like “real-word” economies.
Applying macroeconomics principles to game economy and using examples from video game history, Castronova gives advice on how to design healthy game economies by setting metrics and control points that matter, as well as how to build data-driven economy governance.
