DeSciNYC: Cell Metabolism
Mammalian metabolism comprises thousands of interconnected metabolites that fuel cellular and organismal life. How most of these metabolites/nutrients are transported into and around our cells is unknown. This talk will highlight new approaches to tackle this knowledge gap and highlight how discoveries in nutrient transport can advance our understanding of metabolism, physiology, and disease.
Bio:
Tim Kenny, PhD is a molecular and cellular biologist who studies nutrient transport and metabolism. His work focuses on discovering novel components of metabolic pathways and understanding their relevance in mammalian physiology and disease. He is currently a NIDDK K99 Postdoctoral Fellow at The Rockefeller University and is opening his laboratory at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in January 2026.
