DeSciNYC: Olfactory RGB
Abstract: How does molecular shape turn into scent, and what happens when drug-discovery algorithms and machine learning start designing the molecules themselves? This talk breaks down the latest science of structure-odor relationships, shows how AI predicts and creates brand-new fragrance compounds, and explores the emerging field of smell-based therapeutics for mood, memory, and health.
Bio: Sean Raspet has studied structure-odor relationships of molecules for the past 12 years. He is the founder of Patina which uses techniques from drug discovery and machine learning to design the next generation of fragrance molecules and a new class of olfactory therapeutics.
