DeSciNYC: What is the plague in academic publishing?
Dr. Mu Yang will share how she became the lead sleuth in the Eliezer Masliah case, uncovering falsified data in over 130 research papers spanning decades. Masliah, a prominent neuropathologist and former Director of Neuroscience at the NIA, had a profound influence on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s research, shaping billions in funding and drug development. This talk will examine the implications of this case, its impact on scientific integrity, and the broader challenges of addressing misconduct in academic publishing.
