About Event

In the dark of the night, we'll sneak off to a secluded cave, flashlights in hand as we take turns reading from some of our favorite poems. In the enchantment of the moment, we’ll let poetry work its magic. Not a bad way to spend an evening, eh?

We hereby reconvene the Dead Poets Society at the Commons. Join us for an inaugural night of poetry appreciation and romanticism.

To quote from Mr. Keating: “We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”

Event Description:

We'll begin the evening by taking turns to read poetry or passages of our choice to the group, and sharing any thoughts or feelings that come up after each reading.

As we gain inspiration through the readings, we'll break off and attempt to pen a few lines of verses ourselves. The topic of this writing portion will be love, however interpreted.

We'll end with small-group sharing of our verses and hanging out with fellow poetry lovers.

Doors Open: 8pm

We will start with the DPS rituals at 8:30pm. Do not miss that!

Important: Bring a couple of your favorite poems, flashlights (it's gonna be dark!), and wear your most comfortable hooded clothes! Also BYOB.
