Speaker and Talk Details

Talk 1: "Where is my data? Introducing Datahub"

DataHub is a metadata platform that simplifies the process of finding, monitoring, and managing data. It offers a flexible platform that meets diverse data needs, tailored for both developers navigating intricate data systems and data professionals seeking to maximise the value of their organisation's data. Hasbullah is currently leading the data engineering effort in CDX, Bank Islam, and has successfully implemented and utilised DataHub in a production environment. In this talk, he will share his team's experience using the tools in a banking environment.

About Hasbullah Abu Bakar

Hasbullah is the data engineering lead at CDX, Bank Islam. He is passionate about data democratisation and writes about technology in his newsletter, which can be found at https://hasbullahabubakar.substack.com/.

Talk 2: "Bringing an LLM-powered feature to (near) production"

LLMs are all the rage now, but hype and marginally more talkative chatbots aside, it’s not that straightforward to bring an LLM-powered feature to production, especially if what you’re looking to deploy doesn’t fit into the typical “ask questions over a set of documents” or “generate a bunch of free text matching a pattern” use cases. I’ll walk through how we scoped, iterated and tested our LLM-powered text classification and topic modelling feature and what steps we’re taking to prepare it for production deployment.

About Asyrique Thevendran

Asyrique is a co-founder and CTO at Vase.ai. He built the platform's first version and assembled the engineering team that constructed the subsequent versions. After passing most of the day-to-day engineering responsibilities to his capable team, he’s primarily focused on prototyping new LLM-powered features for the Vase.ai platform.

Important Note

  • ❗️Registration is required to ensure enough seats and F&B is prepared and overall the space can comfortably accommodate everybody

  • ❗️❗️ No-shows will contribute to food wastage and may cause delays in the meetup

    • For example, we'd have to add more chairs if there are a lot more people

    • Another example, we'd like to start the meetup when most have arrived, and we won't know what "most" means if you don't RSVP and check in
