Climate Picnic
Building a better future for our planet starts with building a better community. Climate Action Club is a Bay Area group where we connect with fellow climate-minded folks, learn about the root causes of the climate crisis, and take meaningful local action together.
We know that showing up to new spaces can feel a little intimidating—that’s why we’re creating a warm, low-pressure environment where you can bring your full self. Let’s talk about what local climate action can look like—right here, right now—and how we can support one another in shaping a more just, sustainable future from the ground up.
📍What to Expect
This is a potluck-style picnic—bring a blanket, some of your favorite vegetarian or vegan snacks and nonalcoholic drinks to share!
🕚 Schedule
1:00PM - 1:30PM: Casual chatting and new people intros
1:30PM-2:30PM: Small group conversations around local climate topics
2:30PM - 3:00PM: Relax, snack, and connect with new friends
💬 Discussion Topic
Is endless economic growth the only path to a good life? Join us for an engaging discussion that challenges this core assumption. We're diving into a conversation inspired by Jason Hickel's work on "degrowth" and post-capitalism. We'll explore the argument that our pursuit of endless growth is the root cause of the climate crisis and discuss what an economy centered on human well-being and ecological balance could look like.
To get the most out of the afternoon, we ask everyone to listen to the following podcast episode. Please set aside an hour to do so!
Come prepared to discuss the limits of our current system and imagine a more just and sustainable future. It's a chance to connect with others and broaden your understanding of what's possible.
