Pathways for Indigenous Youth Housing Design at Design Week Calgary
This collaborative design charrette creates a space where different forms of knowledge about Indigenous youth housing—from lived experience to design expertise to policy understanding—can be shared and integrated. Taking place at USAY's Youth Centre, opening Summer 2025 as USAY's permanent home in Forest Lawn, Calgary, this event brings together Indigenous youth, design professionals, community stakeholders, decision-makers, and potential funders to collectively recognize connections and possibilities that might be apparent to some but not fully visible to all, enriching everyone's understanding and creating more holistic approaches to housing design. Through structured dialogue and collaborative design activities, this creative session will generate practical approaches to Indigenous youth housing solutions in Calgary, addressing this critical community need through diverse perspectives and shared wisdom.
