About Event

Web 3 & the G7: Introducing Vote Smash is a morning event to explore real-world implications and applications of Web3 in light of the G7 Summit in Kananaskis, AB June 15th-17th, 2025.

We welcome innovators, founders, investors, students, researchers, government representatives, builders, and tech leaders for a discussion and simulated encounter of Web 3 as it relates to the G7. Topics will include blockchain, AI and cloud computing, decentralized infrastructure, and digital assets with a focus on business modelling for Web 3 era innovation.

The event will provide an introduction to and overview of CanUBlockchain’s first dapp: Vote Smash, a challenge and consensus platform that aims for win-win results for participants on contentious, difficult or ‘wicked problems’ through the use of gamification. In the second half of the event, we’ll do a brief walk-through for those who’d like to participate and/or observe the process to simulate decentralized ledger transactions.

7:15 PM – 7:35 PM | Arrival & Networking

Welcome to the event, which starts with casual networking, late dinner evening snacks and refreshments.

7:35-7:40 PM | Opening Remarks, Challenge & Questions: Web3 & the G7

A basic introduction to Web3 that focuses on global trends, opportunities in Canada, and what to keep an eye out for next. The opening remarks provide a basic set of questions to consider for Web 3 emergence, particularly in light of the current G7 Summit.

7:40-8:10 PM | Fireside Chat – Web 3 around the World, with Remote Guests

Our panel discussion with audience Q&A will focus on a few key aspects of the G7 Summit conversations relevant for Web 3 topics.

Open themes will include blockchain and AI innovation, the ‘AI race,’ community rules that will govern AI, data quality and accessibility. The conversation will include the call for next generation data centres, with common standards for open and closed datasets, management of data hubs, cross-border data sharing, tokenized real world assets, intellectual property constraints, and ethical governance frameworks.

With guests from Spur Innovation Centres, NexBridgeGlobal, NextHomeLabs, and others.

8:10-8:45 PM | Vote Smash Introduction & Simulation

We’ll give a short presentation about CanUBlockchain who is hosting the event, then host a premier short, live simulation of the Vote Smash dapp. Our aim will be to explore the possibility of reaching consensus on one of today’s biggest challenges involving AI and data innovation, as it impacts or will impact all countries in the G7 and beyond.

In this section of the event, after introducing the use case to be demonstrated, we’ll do a compact interactive demo of decentralized decision-making in action. Be welcome and invited to share your thoughts with us on important G7 topics and how they will impact our societies.

8:45-8:55 PM | Web 3 & G7 Open Topics, Questions & Discussion Period

Audience & speaker Q&A, brainstorming, process reflections.

8:55-9:00 PM | Closing Remarks & Announcements
