About Event

** This is a LIVE interview with Beth Kempton about the craft of writing and reality of building a writing career. Attendees will be sent a recording after the interview. **

How do we find calm in the chaos and beauty in the darkness? What can an awareness of impermanence teach us about living well?

In her latest book, Japanologist Beth Kempton embarks on a pilgrimage through rural Japan in search of answers to some of life’s biggest questions. Kokoro is an invitation to cultivate stillness and contentment in an ever-changing, uncertain world. It all begins with the kokoro, a profound Japanese term that represents the intelligent heart, the feeling mind, and the embodied spirit of every human being.

Join us for a conversation with Beth Kempton as we explore Beth Kempton's approach to research and writing Kokoro, and how we might better understand our own Kokoro to cultivate inner peace and happiness.

We’ll also discuss:

  • The inspiration behind Kokoro

  • Balancing work, creativity, and well-being

  • Beth’s journey as an author
