About Event

passerby is hosting a special closet sale at Seven Wonders Collective on the Lower East Side with a portion of the proceeds going to the New York Abortion Access Fund.

Join us next weekend (November 9th and 10th) to shop the closets of passersby including stylist Shayna Arnold, Consider Yourself Cultured’s Jalil Johnson, Susan Alexandra designer Susan Korn, Maryam Nassir Zadeh’s head of designJenn Park, passerby founder Clémence Polès, passerby managing editor Meghan Racklin, and designer and researcher Mindy Seu. You’ll find everything from vintage Prada to a matching polka dot skirt set to Pleats Please skirts and more.

The sale will include items that fit sizes extra small to medium and shoes ranging from size US 5.5-9 (with some one-size-fits-most pieces and sizeless accessories as well).

We’ll also have drinks from our sponsor, Le Moné. And if you want to make a day of it, stop by Café Forgot after the closet sale — our shoppers receive 10% off — and then see a movie at Metrograph — our shoppers receive 40% off a membership (details for these discounts will be available at the sale).

On Saturday, the first hour of the sale — which means exclusive first access to our sellers’ archives — is reserved for passerby club members as our way of saying thank you for supporting passerby. Your support enables us to pay our writers, photographers, and more, ensuring we can continue to bring you work that pushes back against traditional narratives of who is seen and what is discussed.

passerby
passerby is an online magazine and community that celebrates the women who pass us by.

Since 2015, passersby from all over the world have welcomed us into their homes, offering honest looks into their lives—the unconventional paths, mistakes, and small victories—as well as their book, film, and music libraries. Conceived by Clémence Polès, passerby was born from her curiosity about the women she encountered all too briefly while people-watching. Wanting to hear from the people who sat beside her on the subway, from those who served her coffee or passed her on the sidewalk, she set out to broaden the scope of typical media portrayals, asking the women she saw to speak with her.

Hundreds of conversations later, passerby has become a venue for a diversity of perspectives, a driver of creative exchange, and a home for a community of worldwide passersby. passerby pushes against traditional narratives of who is seen and what can be discussed, providing a rare space for reflection on an increasingly busy internet.
