ISW West India Data Sprint
Veditum & India Sand Watch, with our partners Alliance for Conserving Freshwater Ecosystems, is hosting our third data sprint, West India Data Sprint.
Veditum’s ‘Data Sprints’ aim to bring together communities of open-data enthusiasts, and people concerned about rivers - particularly about the issue of river sand mining, to participate in a collective, day-long, intensive data digitisation effort.
This data is then open, and freely accessible on the India Sand Watch platform for anyone wishing to use it for on-ground action, research, media reports, legal action etc.
The outcome of the sprint is a systematic, structured compilation of data on sand mining locations, news, and survey reports on West Indian rivers - focusing on the coastal states of Goa, Maharashtra & Gujarat, which will serve as a great resource for everyone involved with the issue.
