About Event

Have you ever heard of a beverage called kava? Brewed from the root of the Piper methysticum plant, it has been consumed traditionally in the Pacific Islands for thousands of years. It is currently becoming more known in the West as a potential healthier alternative to alcohol.

Join us on Wednesday, October 2nd (updated!) at Casa Chironja for a special two-part event.

Part 1 is a scientific experiment. We are studying the effects of kava compared to alcohol or placebo (juice). Participants will be given a randomly assigned beverage and asked to speak in small groups for 30 minutes. This will be the first study of its kind, and by participating, you will be contributing to important research about exploring healthier alternatives to alcohol! It also should be fun to participate because you basically get to have a drink while you chit chat (all we ask is that you answer a brief survey at the end).

Afterwards, we will be joined by Dr. Kyriah Cuebas, who will give a talk about nurturing the ability to make healthy choices in the distracting modern world. Dr. Cuebas is a dynamic psychologist, licensed in Puerto Rico, who specializes in unlocking the full potential of high-functioning individuals.

Please join us for a fun and experimental evening!

This event is organized by Cosimo, a scientific research service for curiosity-driven investigation.
