This is an RPGFest event; we'll be playing an in-person tabletop roleplaying game with a small group. The game will be hosted in Western Queens. Come prepared to roleplay!
It is 1390 anno Domini. Thirty years ago, Death left this world. The world is worse for it.
Those who die simply rise again, with strange, horrific mutations. When this happens too many times, they lose their humanity, roving the land as murderous dæmoniacs. The only way to break this cycle is to gather relics from the before-times and sing great songs of faith to restore the quintessence, the natural balance of life and death.
You are a caravan of Pilgrims, sent out into the perilous wilds to find these relics and to bring them back to your city. Your leaders have ordered you to explore a hidden monastery complex far to the south. Thus far, the expedition has been a disaster. The river Danube is an impenetrable barrier that the caravan cannot find a way to cross.
That is, until you meet an aged exile who might help you, if you can perform a task for him first. He does not have long left to live. He hopes he can be put to Eternal Rest.
