✨💛 Seattle: 🐟 Issaquah Salmon Hatchery Tour + optional Lunch | November
Welcome to the Seattle Chapter of Women And Climate's tour for November!
Where we'll be:
Part 1: The Tour
The Issaquah Salmon Hatchery is the most visited in the state, welcoming over 200,000 visitors a year. The Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (WDFW) owns and operates the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery and each year their staff raise roughly 3,500,000 Chinook and 1,000,000 coho. The hatchery is open all year round, free of charge, and provides a unique “outdoor classroom” for visitors to learn up close about salmon and watershed stewardship.
Part 2: Optional Early Lunch
Afterwards, optionally join us for an early lunch at Ūmi Cafe, a short walk away at 80 Southeast Bush Street, Issaquah WA 98027. We're heading there early to make sure that everyone who wants to participate can get seated.
We've found that gathering for a meal after a tour is a wonderful way to discuss what we've just learned and network with other attendees.
Schedule:
10:00 am - Meet in front of the Watershed Science Center
10:05 am - Break into small groups for self-guided tours
There are 37 Educational exhibits, and many have QR codes with a multi-lingual audio tour
10:15 am - Last group starts self-guided tour
11:10 am - Gather to walk to optional early lunch & networking
11:20 am - Arrive at Ūmi Cafe (so we can get seated!) until... we're done!
