🤔 The Crypto Paradox [members]
This is a Tech & Society salon focused on the philosophical, ethical, and societal nature of crypto.
Crypto promises freedom from centralized forces — but some of these promises have paradoxical implications on the way we interact with each other and the systems around us. Some questions we could explore in this salon include:
What is trust? How does crypto change our need for trust? Is trust bad or good?
What is the relationship between freedom, privacy, and convenience?
Is crypto explicitly tied to capitalism? Can it be used for progressive reform?
Is crypto compatible with government today? If yes, what might this relationship look like in the future?
Is a partially decentralized system better or worse than a fully centralized system? What trade offs should societies make?
How does financialization impact individual expression and social coordination?
This is inspired by the awesome discussions happening at Crypto, Culture, & Society.
