About our speakers

Jesse Jörg
Jesse Jop Jörg is a creative citymaker focusing on creating more ‘togetherness’ in cities with impactful projects. His goal is to show the city as a shared canvas that can be colored by us all, together.

Since 2012, Jesse and his agency We The City have initiated, among other projects, the BenchesCollective, the largest open-air café in the world. Residents can turn their sidewalk into a shared living room by opening a pop-up cafe. It was emulated in twenty-four countries and became the beginning of a series of initiatives like ROEF, a series of events to showcase the vast opportunities of the rooftop landscape, BOILING, the ammunition room for impatient initiators and the Rainbar, the only bar in the world where it rains inside (serving only beers made by rainwater).

Through these projects, Jesse realized that cities are largely shaped by an urban algorithm. He sees the urban algorithm as a design discipline in which designers are indispensable. He is currently making a podcast series on the Algorithm of the City followed by urban interventions, eventually leading up to a proposal to change the algorithm for the better.
